Dear Earthshakers,

We would like to thank you for the numerous positive mails we have received over the last several months, and for your loyal support and interest over the years. We understand your confusion about not having heard anything from us over such a long period of time. The reasons for this were basically that we ourselves weren't sure about the future of the Earthshaker Festival. We wanted to consider all options before issuing an official statement.

We are grateful for your enduring loyalty and support as well as your encouragement, even if things didn't necessarily go as planned at the last Fest. After careful consideration and with a heavy heart we have decided against an Earthshaker Fest in 2008. This decision was not an easy one for us to make, especially because we established the festival over the past 5 years with conviction, passion and enthusiasm.

One of the main reasons for the cancellation was the excessive number of festivals currently in operation, and the resulting salary demands which have increased considerably over the last few years, particularly with regards to potential headliners. Associated with this is, of course, a much higher economic risk. One of the main problems is that there are almost no overly attractive headliners except for a few "dinosaurs" who have been established for ages, or some extremely rare exceptions. Additionally, there is a deficit when it comes to timing. Attractive bands are touring Europe in June, performing at the big European festivals during that time, which means they are usually not available in July.

It is also not reasonable to move the Earthshaker to June due to the considerable choice of festivals within that month. There are also issues of exclusivity, resulting in certain bands not being available to select or all competitors. It would certainly be possible to do a 3 day festival in July based on the "Geiz ist geil/Cheap is awesome" motto, presenting a multitude of bands at a low ticket price, but a concept like that does not comply with the Earthshaker principles since our main focus has always been on the aspect of quality.

The final consideration would be the matter of location. It is crucial not to have large towns in the vicinity, since an idyllic setting on its own does not suffice.

Organising a festival of such size is also a very time consuming and cannot be done casually as a hobby. It amounts to a full time job, a more than stressful 7 day week while other work can hardly be done. Nevertheless, in the past, the moment on the Saturday when everybody was standing in front of the stage enjoying the headliner show it more than compensated for everything.

We want to thank you all, especially the phenomenal ESF Streetforce, for your devoted support since 2003 and wish you all a metallic 2008!

For all travellers by car from autobahn A 6 from Nuernberg: watch out there is a construction area directly at the Exit 66, we wish a safe journey !

Last shipment day for the hardtickets via our online shop is this Friday, July 13th ! Please order your tickets and wire the confirmed amount in time!

the running order is online. Testament will close the second Earthshaker Day, Friday the 20th, with a special show which will include an exclusive Worldpremiere of brandnew tracks for their forthcoming album - this one is must see ! Also new are Mors Principium Est, for all fans who are into finisch metal alá C.O.B., Deadlock will present their the criticially acclaimed new album "Wolves", Justice and Runamok will rock the house on Saturday at the aftershow party. Gerre, singer of Tankard will be the DJ at the aftershow parties. It´ll also be interesting to see who the winner of the band contest will be, they will open up the festival on Thursday. Up until the 8th of July you can vote your favorite band right on the Earthshaker mainstage.

The Campground are open from wednesday 18th of July 2:00 p.m. We appreciate your early arrival, make sure to have your tickets in advance, this is not only cheaper but prevents you from an delays at the check in.

Reservations can be made for groups consisting of 50 persons and more, reservations can be made until the 9th of July.

Dear Earthshakers,

It´s done ! The Top 20 Earthshaker contest bands are finalized.

We are overwhelmed about how many good bands have participated. After numerous nightshifts and discussions it wasn´t easy to come to a final decision. However, the result is a good mixture of of various styles of metal.

Vader

VADER are considered by many to be a phenomenon, and rightly so. Like an armour-plated tank on the warpath, even their warning shots are delivered as salvos of brutalitity regardless of whether their death metal onslaught is more traditional or atmospheric in nature. Masterplan

Mike DiMeo, former frontman for RIOT and THE LIZARDS, has made his mark with MASTERPLAN as the band's new singer, putting in a more than impressive performance that adds to the already established flair of the band. J.B.O. Meets SEPULTURA At Secret Summit Meeting!

On March 19th, the Pink Army Party Machine known as J.B.O. hooked up with metal gods SEPULTURA backstage in Munich (at the Backstage, ironically...) for a secret summit meeting, where the Brazilians played their last show on the German leg of their current world tour. The highest security measures were taken, with all toilet seats wiped clean, garbage cans filled to overflowing, and hundreds of fans standing watch in front of the venue. The top priority for the summit was the continued nurturing and intensifying of the German-Brazilian cultural relationship, which will be taken to new heights in July at this year's Earthshaker Festival when both bands hit the stage together if everything goes according to plan. ... more
